Indonesia Rules Over Twitter’s Trending Topics!
As Germany defeated England 4-1 in the round 16 of World Cup 2010, Indonesia proved itself again as the ruler of Twitter’s trending topics!
Germany sacked the first two goals thanks to Miroslav Klose and Lukas Poldoski. The Englishmen tried to tie the score and Matthew Upson successfully contributed 1 goal. The score was 2-1 for German. Then, Lampard tried to create another goal. The ball hit the upper part of the goal frame, bounced definitely inside the goal line (can be seen through the video replay), but was not counted by the referee and his assistants.
Poor England… They failed to tie the score, even failed to score another goals as they were defeated by the Germans 4-1.
But hey, the Indonesian proved themselves to play major role in the Twitter’s trending topics (commonly abbreviated as TT)!
Before the match between England and Germany, three of the trending topics were “nonton IMB”, “Putri Ayu”, and “Christian Bautista”. Those topics are referring to an Indonesian show called “Indonesia Mencari Bakat” (abbreviated IMB) where Putri Ayu is one of the contestants and Christian Bautista, Filipino singer, was the guest judge.
And after the match… Here is the screenshot of the Twitter’s trending topics:
See the words “Wasit Goblog”? The Indonesian phrases means “stupid referee” in English.
From this fact, we can conclude that Indonesians truly are major players in the Twitter world. They rules the Twitter’s trending topics!
(As an Indonesian, I do not know whether I should be proud of this achievement or be ashamed of it…)
