What a surprising moment. I never expect my speech text (which I’ve uploaded a long long time ago) about the influence of Internet in modern society will be HOT on Facebook (in Indonesian). Not even once! Well, I did upload it on Slideshare, just for the purpose of sharing it. But, I’m really surprised seeing it become a HOT topic. Even my summary about Biology for UAN (Ujian Akhir Nasional) didn’t make it.

Bring Back the non-3D Film!

Sepertinya belakangan ini 3D sudah menjadi trend di Hollywood. Mungkin awal-awalnya, ada euforia tersendiri dengan menonton 3D. Tapi gw sendiri justru semakin muak dengan 3D. Bioskop malah makin gencar lagi. Mungkin lama-lama semuanya cuma available di dalam 3D kali. Gw menuntut opsi non-3D di setiap bioskop!! Jadi kalo mao nonton film tertentu, bisa 3D ato gak (tapi gw rasa ini bakalan sulit banget tercapai, apalagi kalo filmnya bukan yang calon hits). I just want the non-3D film to be back!! Arabian Nights: Rise of the Evil Sorcerer

It’s been a pain in my ass, back, and brain (well, I spent hours and hours sitting and coding in front of my laptop and desktop) for a month or more (not really sure how many days I’ve spent for this project), and finally yeah! my game is finished and I named it, Arabian Nights: Rise of the Evil Sorcerer.

Basically the game is about typing the correct characters which appear on the board before they reach the bottom of the board. Every correct character will be awarded 10 pts. A wrong character makes you lose 5 pts, and every character that reaches the bottom costs you a life. You have 5 life(s) at the start of the game. You lose if you have minus score, or no remaining life(s). You win if you surpassed level 20.

Gameplay differs slightly from each version. Version 1 doesn’t decrement your score although you type a wrong character, but decrement your life. Because of that, I preset the life to 10. Version 3 uses the above gameplay.

The game is coded in C and uses Allegro library.

Problem with Allegro Screen

Oke, jadi gw sekarang lagi membangun sebuah game dengan C dan library Allegro; dan gw kemarin stres banget gara-gara Allegro nya aneh (gak tau kenapa).

Di game gw, player bisa mensetting width dari board game nya. Di code gw, screen Allegro yang dimunculkan adalah width yang diinput player dikali 30 pixels. Entah kenapa setiap player memasukkan angka ganjil di width board, screen yang dikeluarkan warnanya magenta. Annoying lah secara menurut gw coding gw gak ada yang salah (untuk bagian ini), dan sebisa mungkin gw pengen game gw perfect (namanya juga final project). Read the rest of this entry »
